Promoting your business in the same space as your competitors? It pays to get creative. Photographer Robyn Pollman shares her inspiration - and a very sweet idea.
As a photographer with a passion for marketing, Robyn Pollman is always on the look out for new ways to promote her business. A sucessful commercial photographer with a large Flickr following, she shares her own marketing and design tips on her blog, The Paperie Boutique.
While working with the co-ordinators of two different photography workshops, Robyn was invited to contribute a piece of self promotion to a goodie bag. It was to be presented to workshop attendees.
The nature of a 'goodie bag' means they're usually stuffed full of goodies from a range of different sources, so Robyn knew she needed something to make her work stand out.
With her photography business named Buttons and Bows Photography, inspiration came from an online tutorial explaining how to make candy buttons. Robyn would make her promotion more three dimensional - a real 'goodie' for this bag.
As you'll see from the link, making your own branded candy is no quick task. Not to be put off a good idea, Robyn opted to make life simpler with ready-made buttons from The Rosemary Company.
The finishing touches to the piece came with MiniCards, branding the packs with Robyn's unique design style and contact details.
Using the MiniCard template, she designed both the front and the back of the cards and uploaded the final print ready PDFs direct to MOO. With the slick matte laminate and the heavy paper stock, the cards gave the packets the feeling of a professionally packaged treat.
