Holiday card trends we love
Here are some of the biggest holiday card trends of 2024 for inspiration this season.
This is where we get excited, like a kid on Christmas morning. But, we promise we’ll try and contain ourselves. Here’s our round-up of what’s cool for yule when it comes to Holiday card trends. For us, it’s important we keep up to date with everything design and now we want to share our knowledge with you so you can get inspired by design trends for your Holiday cards this year. After all, cards are a wonderful way to connect.
1. Hand-drawn illustrations
Hand-drawn illustrations give a personal touch that stands out in the digital age (something we’re quite fond of doing at MOO). Illustrations can be made modern with a whimsical or playful feel depending on your brand’s look and feel. For a holiday spin, try including winter scenes, Arctic animals, or festive objects. When it comes to Christmas card trends, this one gets our vote.
2. Bold typography
Want to get noticed? You can’t ignore this design trend, especially if you want to opt for something that’s di rigueur in the design world. Choose large, stand-out fonts combined with minimalistic backgrounds. The typography will become the focal point to deliver your holiday message in an impactful way. If you need inspiration, our templates are great for font options. We suggest selecting colour combos like dark green and gold or red and white to get attention.
3. Muted/natural colour palettes
Now this is the Holiday card trend for those who want to avoid clichés and stay far away from the traditional red and green. Muted, earthy tones like sage green, soft blues, and warm neutrals give a more contemporary feel. This colour palette can be paired with natural textures to continue that refreshing alternative. A bonus of the aesthetic is that it adds a sense of calm and serenity, which is often needed during the season!
4. Abstract and geometric patterns
If your style is more pared back and sophisticated, this Holiday card design trend will be right up your street. Modern abstract shapes and patterns make for a visually striking approach that looks even better in bold colours or Foil. Sometimes you just want to keep things simple.
5. Repurposing existing brand assets
This design trend is a clever one if you want to maintain brand consistency while embracing the holiday spirit. Keep your brand front and center by using your usual brand elements in your design. Logos, brand colours, and patterns can transform into holiday-themed geometric designs, like snowflakes, ornaments, or stylised trees. Pretty nifty, if we do say so ourselves.
We hope our holiday card trends have given you plenty of inspiration to create your own cards for 2024. More importantly, we hope it’s given you that festive feeling!
